Splashathon

We are thrilled to announce that during Splashathon 2024 Water Babies customers have raised a staggering

£701,087

What an amazing achievement. The funds raised through this special fundraising event could fund the UK’s first Tommy's National Centre for Preterm Birth Research for a year, working to reduce the numbers of babies born too early.

This could also fund key projects which give children access to water through the Children's Alliance, from specialist swimming lessons for Special Educational Needs children, making swimming an inclusive sport through the provision of swimwear, to providing access to specific water sports which can help children with mental health issues.

Children from Water Babies classes across the UK showcased their superstar swimming skills with a ‘Splashathon’ fundraiser for charities Tommy’s and the Children’s Alliance in March. Taking place at pools up and down the country between the 11th  to the 17th of March 2024.

About Children's Alliance

Children's Alliance is The Water Babies charitable foundation, aiming to give children the best start in life. Making a difference in the first five years of children's lives is vital. Its work aims to champion the importance of our children and inspire the potential of the next generation, through policy campaigning and community initiatives.

About Tommy's

Tommy’s is the leading pregnancy charity that exists to stop the heartbreak and devastation of baby loss and make pregnancy and birth safe – for everyone.

Working across the whole pregnancy journey – translating their research breakthroughs into new tests and treatments in clinical care, changing national maternity policy and providing expert information and support.

1 in 13 babies born in the UK are premature – that’s 6 babies every hour. But there’s so much we can do to prevent it.

That's why they're opening the first ever Tommy's National Centre for Preterm Birth Research dedicated to finding the causes and treatments which save babies’ lives.
