Summer’s here and the combination of holidays, sunshine, water and children is a seductive, but potentially lethal, mix.
It seems the danger is greater on holiday because parents relax and have a false sense of security around water. A major factor in drowning is the initial shock of falling into water. Very young children react instantly to sudden and unexpected submersion, becoming temporarily paralysed with fear.
One of our primary goals at Water Babies is to teach little ones vital lifesaving skills right from the start, such as turning onto their backs or, following a sudden submersion, swimming to the nearest solid object.
So in support of Drowning Prevention Week, the national campaign run by the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) which aims to teach people how to stay safe near water, we're offering one lucky winner a FREE term of Water Babies classes, including an underwater photo shoot and images PLUS a fab goody bag!
Don’t forget to keep an eye on our Facebook page too, as throughout the week we’ll be posting a series of safety tips on our Facebook page to help you keep the whole family safe this summer.
