Water Babies Belfast South

Baby swimming with Water Babies is an exciting, enriching experience for both you and your little one. Not only does it teach vital life skills, but it also enhances the way babies and toddlers learn other skills, too. No one else reaches our high standards of professionalism, and no one else works harder to make sure you and your little one feel happy and safe. And we always incorporate lots of bonding, fun and socialising, so you can be sure that a Water Baby is a happy baby!

Amy West-Hurst runs classes across Belfast South, and she can’t remember a time when water didn’t play a big part in her life. Born in Waterford, Eire, her childhood summers were spent pottering about on the beach near her granny’s house. Then the sailing bug bit her, and life changed for ever.

When she met her husband, Charlie, one sailing weekend in Bangor, Amy ended up staying for 6 weeks – then went back home, packed her bags, and moved straight back to Northern Ireland!

A career in direct marketing didn’t fulfil her aquatic aspirations, so she turned her attention to teaching mainstream swimming. It was when she started looking for classes for her baby daughter, Zoë, that she discovered Water Babies — and, as there were no classes locally, decided to look into running them herself.

“I firmly believe swimming is a life skill that everybody’s entitled to,” Amy explains, “and I just love how much babies adore swimming. Zoë is a true water baby — Charlie can’t believe how confident and happy she already is in the water. In fact, she laughs so much when she’s in that she ends up swallowing most of it!”

The wonderfully enthusiastic Zara, Amy and Suzi are the friendly voices in the office, while a team of highly qualified teachers completes the Water Babies Northern Ireland crew. They’d love to hear from them, so why not give them a call? You can find them on Facebook at Water Babies (Northern Ireland), or join their Facebook Group where you'll find a warm welcome waiting for you.

We are waiting on our grand total coming through at the end of August to see how much money we have raised. We are super excited that Una Foden from The Saturdays is our Tommy's ambassador.

Water Wobble Tips!

If you are looking for some more information about the Water Wobbles, blogger 'The Dadventurer' has written a very informative piece about his tips for getting through the wobbles.

Some of our top tips on coming through the Water Wobbles include:

  • By arriving early to your class, your little one can watch the other babies swimming and having fun in the class before theirs.
  • Bring your little one to a pool outside the classes and when you are in the pool, focus on the skills that your little one enjoys doing.
  • Persistence - it is very important to attend as many classes as you can even though you will be tempted to give up. Our teachers are used to little ones going through the Water Wobbles and will support you every step of the way until your little one comes through this phase.

If you would like a bit more information about what the Water Wobbles are and how to get through them, we have plenty of information available in our office. We also have teachers on hand to talk you through this developmental stage. If you would like more information please do give us a call on 02891472403 or send us an email to findtherail@waterbabies.co.uk.
