Baby swimming in Surrey (East)
Reigate - Redhill - Oxted - Godstone - Crawley - Croydon - South Norwood - Sutton - Wallington - East Grinstead
When Michelle Lane was working nights in airport security, she found the best way of relaxing in the daytime was to take her daughter, Leah, swimming. (Apparently she generally wasn't very nice in the morning, according to husband Mark, who'd often tell her to go back to bed!) Soon, she found she loved the swimming so much she retrained as a swimming instructor. Then she realised that it was being with babies in the water that she really loved and so she found us! Ok, not your usual 'how I got into baby swimming' story, but an interesting one for showing the absolute passion Michelle feels for what she now does. 'Mark still works in airport security,' she says, 'and he can't understand how anyone can love their job as much as I do. I just love how much babies enjoy swimming. Seeing how they respond, their smiles, and the fact that I always feel good at the end of my lessons.'
After two years of working for Water Babies in West Surrey, Michelle decided to take the plunge and start her own classes. 'Eventually Mark hopes to join me,' she says. 'We had a life-changing moment in Thailand, when we narrowly avoided the 2004 tsunami - actually because I was pregnant with Leah at the time so we'd decided not to visit one of the beaches where it struck. Since then we've always had the philosophy of living life to the max, and doing as much as possible as a family, and it would be lovely to be together at work as well as play!'
