The only sadness Jo Christmas had with the birth of her first daughter, Tilly, was that she couldn’t use her favourite girl’s name: Eve.
Still, that doesn’t seem to have hampered her daughter's progress in life – and now no-one can imagine her being called anything else. Her arrival on the scene made a big impact in more than one way, as it inspired her mummy to take on a whole new career. Jo so loved attending Water Babies lessons that when the opportunity arose to buy the company it was just what she wanted. ‘More than anything else in my life,’ Jo recalls, ‘apart from children.’ Since then, Tilly has been joined by Hettie - who also loves life in the pool.
Jo must have been keen as she was also passionate about her previous job as a secondary school English teacher (‘Favourite thing? The kids’ one liners.’). About Water Babies she says, ‘I just love the passion with which it’s run, and the fact that we're doing something that's so worthwhile.’
And that passion runs right throughout the West Surrey team. Jo is supported by ‘the very best’ administrators and four brilliant teachers, all of whom have taught their own children to swim through Water Babies!
