Baby swimming in Scotland Central

When Wendy Lambie’s husband Derek met one of Water Babies’ co-founders, Jess Thompson, on a charity cycle ride in Peru, it was to change their lives forever. ‘When our baby Jorja was born, Jess’s gift to us was a Water Babies course,’ laughs Wendy. And by the end of the first term, Wendy was so blown away by the whole experience that she decided to swap her previous career as a pharmacist for a life in the swimming pool.
‘Jorja is now 16 months, and to say that I’m amazed at the safety skills she’s already developed is an understatement,’ Wendy enthuses. ‘Only last weekend she practically pulled herself out of the pool – now that’s impressive!’
Water has always been a big part of Wendy’s life, swimming competitively as a teenager. ‘Derek was rather more apprehensive around water when I first met him,’ she says. ‘But through taking Jorja along to classes, he’s started to overcome his nervousness and enjoy it a lot more.’
Along with their love of Water Babies, Wendy and Derek share a mutual passion for travel, good food and good wine. A match made in heaven, we’d say!
We've finally sourced a pool in St Andrews! If you are local or know of anyone in the area who would like to join in the fun, get them to give us a call!
Our next photo shoot will be on the 29th April in the Craighalbert Centre in Cumbernauld. Call the office to get your little one booked on for that once in a lifetime picture.
