There’s a general rule of thumb in baby swimming: the warmer the water, the more basic the facilities. In fact some of the changing rooms might bring to mind the words postage stamp and there’s definitely no room to swing the proverbial cat. (Not, we hasten to add, that we would ever want to try). Therefore we ask that you come to lessons as pre-prepared as possible, carrying as little equipment as possible. Again, because of space considerations, we sometimes have to ask that you don’t bring a pram. However, in those instances we’ll always have made it clear beforehand. One thing we do ask is that you always bring a changing mat, as changing your baby with it on the floor is by far the safest and most hygienic method.
Most venues have shower facilities, but again these can be pretty limited. Do please always shower both yourself and your baby before entering the pool as this will have a dramatic impact on keeping the water cleaner. It’s also important that you and your baby bath after swimming. However, we suggest that, in order to achieve that full Radox moment, you might want to do this upon returning home.
